New Thurrock Health Centre Now Open in Grays

The new Thurrock Health Centre was officially opened on 31st May in the former Woolworths Store on Grays High Street.

The 1,400m² shop has been transformed into a modern three storey medical centre complete with a total of 10 GP consulting rooms, including three consulting rooms for patients with walk-in appointments and 3 treatment rooms. In addition to this, a room dedicated to blood testing and examinations, two waiting areas, two reception areas - one for booked appointments and the other for walk-in appointments - as well as multi-purpose rooms for clinics, have been included on the ground floor. The building is fully Disability Discrimination Act and Infection Control Standards compliant.

The result of this close consultation process between GPI's design team, NHS South West Essex and College Health is a modern, accessible and purpose-designed healthcare facility fit for the 21st Century.

The former Woolworths store will offer GP and nurse appointments to registered patients, as well as walk-in services to those who are not registered from 8am to 8pm - the first time this has been available in south west Essex.

Marc Davis, Director of Primary Care at South West Essex PCT said:
"We are delighted that two years of hard work and commitment to bring south West Essex its first GP service open 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, is now complete. Any patient - wherever they live - will be able to walk-in and wait to see a GP or nurse at the Thurrock Health Centre, which is a huge step forward for the residents of Grays and beyond. We have worked closely with GPI throughout this project and are delighted with the facility they have been able to provide for us."
