October, 2010 Marina Healthcare Centre, Portishead wins the Management in Practice Design & Facilities Award 2010 GPI are delighted to announce that the Marina Healthcare Centre in Portishead was declared the winner of the Design and Facilities Award at the Management in Practice Awards 2010. The practice, the largest facility built in its area for 20 years, was commended by the awards judges for its outstanding level of design. In line with North Somerset PCT's Strategic Plan of "Shaping our Future" many community services have been incorporating within the building including physiotherapy, lymphodema clinics, podiatry and pulmonary and cardiac rehab. By providing these services at a Primary Care level it has reduced referrals and actually created net cost savings for the PCT of over £100,000 per annum whilst at the same time providing a better patient experience, greater patient choice and convenience closer to home. The 1,900 sq m Centre, completed on time and to budget, is a good example of GPI's ability to combine aesthetic innovation with the delivery of a bespoke facility for the NHS This is the second year in a row that a GPI scheme has scooped the Design and Facilities Award with The Cwm Gwyrdd Medical Centre in Gilfach Goch winning in 2009.
