February, 2010 Portacabins arrived on site at Pastures Avenue, Worle, Weston super Mare in January 2010 marking the first step in the journey towards new premises provision for the local community. GPI have been chosen to partner North Somerset PCT and Malling Health on an exciting new Equitable Access to Primary Medical Care ("APMC") centre in this area of Weston-super-Mare.The PCT recognised a need for improved medical services in line with population growth and the ability to provide greater services at a primary care level. It was a requirement that EAPMC services commence on site as quickly as possible and to achieve this a two step strategy was proposed. The first step was the immediate alleviation of pressure from existing surgeries by the introduction of clinical temporary accommodation whilst the second step, construction of a permanent new Primary Care Centre, is being planned. The temporary surgery consists of a waiting room, two treatment rooms, two consulting rooms combined with space for other necessary administration functions and facilities. Car parking is available on site. This is the second such temporary relocation solution within the last 6 months that GPI has delivered to assist Primary Care Trusts meet their Equitable Access targets.
